Looking Back: Ladies European Open on LET
First played: 1984
Last played: 1996
Dale Reid and Trish Johnson both won the Ladies European Open twice. Reid's winning score of 272 in 1987 remained the tournament record. The largest margin of victory was Johnson's five strokes in 1996, the last year the tournament was played.
Annika Sorenstam, in her first full season as a pro in 1993, was runner-up that year in this event (then called the European Ladies Classic). It was one of four second-place finishes for Sorenstam on the LET that year, at the end of which she was named the tour's Rookie of the Year.
Another Swede, Liselotte Neumann, earned the third pro victory (on any tour) of her career here in 1985. It was the second of her 11 career wins on the LET. Laura Davies' victory in 1992 was the 13th of her 45 career wins on the LET.
