Longest Drive of the Year on PGA Tour
The PGA Tour defines its "Longest Drive" stat category this way: "For all drives measured with a laser, this is the longest drive for the entire year." Below is the list of the longest drives on the tour for each year going back to 2003, when laser-measured drives first started being tracked as their own statistical category by the tour.
So what is the longest, laser-measured drive in tour history? That is the 477-yard blast struck by Max Homa during the 2024 Sentry, the tour's season-opener on the Plantation Course at Kapalua in Hawaii. Homa, not known as one of the tour's biggest hitters, hit the record-setting drive on the par-5 seventh hole during the third round. That hole plays all downhill, typically with a strong helping wind, and that day it was directly downwind.
The previous record, a 476-yard drive by Davis Love III, had stood since 2004. Love's drive happened on the same golf course, although a different hole.
