Largest Playoffs Ever on the LPGA Tour

What is the largest playoff that has ever taken place on the LPGA Tour? That is, the most golfers who participated in a playoff at one of the tour's official events?

In LPGA Tour history, there are two tournaments that ended in a 6-player, sudden-death playoff. One was in 1999, the other in 2012.

6-Player Playoff at 1999 Jamie Farr Kroger Classic

  • Winner: Se Ri Pak
  • Others in playoff: Carin Koch, Kelli Kuehne, Mardi Lunn, Sherri Steinhauer, Karrie Webb
Despite setting the record for largest LPGA playoff as the first-ever 6-player playoff on the tour, this one ended quickly: Pak was the only one of the six golfers who made birdie on the first sudden-death hole.

This was Pak's sixth career win in just her second year on the LPGA. It was her second consecutive win in the Jamie Farr Classic. And that's a tournament she went on to win five times, tying the LPGA record for most wins in the same tournament. And when the tournament once known as the Jamie Farr Classic ended in 2024, Pak remained its only back-to-back winner.

6-Player Playoff at 2012 ISPS Handa Women's Australian Open

  • Winner: Jessica Korda
  • Others in playoff: Stacy Lewis, Julieta Granada, Brittany Lincicome, So Yeon Ryu, Hee Kyung Seo
Korda, 18 years old at the time, had the lead through much of the final round but needed a late birdie to grab the last spot in the playoff. Then she won it on the second extra hole by making a 25-foot birdie putt.

It was Korda's first win on the LPGA Tour, and came 14 years after her father, Petr Korda, won the Australian Open tennis title. Korda's sister Nelly Korda won the Women's Australian Open in 2019.
