Golf Joke: Go Jump In a Lake

How do you sometimes feel at the end of a poor day of play on the golf course? Sometimes you just feel like packing it all in.

Metaphorically, of course. You don't literally want to "end it all" — your golf or your life. But a bad day on the links can certainly be frustrating.

That's the situation Billy found himself in after hacking it around the Anytown USA Resort and Country Club one day. Even though he had a caddie with him offering advice — a rare treat for Billy — he sprayed the ball everywhere. It seemed like he found every bunker, every water hazard, but hardly any fairways and greens.

It was one of those days.

As Billy and his caddie walked off the 18th green, Billy noticed a lake across the way. Feeling sorry for himself and disgusted with his game, he pointed to the lake and told his caddie, with great exaggeration but much feeling, "I can't believe how badly I played today. I should throw my clubs into that lake. Heck, I should throw myself in that lake — if I'm lucky I'll drown and never have to play golf again!"

The caddie quickly replied, "I'm not sure you could keep your head down that long."
