LPGA Tournament: The Office Depot

The LPGA Tour event known as The Office Depot was played only five times, but had an impressive roster of champions. It was played in Florida from the late 1990s into the early 2000s.

First played: 1997

Last played: 2001

Winners of the LPGA The Office Depot

1997 — Kelly Robbins, 271 (def. Emilee Klein in playoff)
1998 — Helen Alfredsson, 277
1999 — Karrie Webb, 278
2000 — Karrie Webb, 281
2001 — Grace Park, 280

The tournament debuted in 1997 under the name "Diet Dr Pepper National Pro-Am." The office products retailer Office Depot became title sponsor in 1998, and the tournament name through 2001 was The Office Depot. This event should not be confused with the Office Depot Championship, another LPGA Tour event played at the same time.

The Office Depot was always one of the earliest tournaments on the LPGA schedule. It was the season-opener in 2000.

Karrie Webb won two of the five tournaments played, and back-to-back in 1999-2000. In 1999, she beat runners-up Dottie Pepper and Kris Tschetter by one stroke; in 2000 she beat second-place Juli Inkster by four (the tournament's largest margin of victory). Going for three in a row in 2001, Webb finished second by one stroke to winner Grace Park.

Kelly Robbins' 271 in the first year (when she won a playoff over Emilee Klein on the second extra hole) held up as the tournament's 72-hole scoring record.

Golf courses: From 1997-2000, the site was Ibis Golf & Country Club in West Palm Beach, Florida. In its final year, The Office Depot was played at Doral Golf Resort & Spa in Miami.
