Biggest Wins in Singles Matches at Solheim Cup
Singles matches in the Solheim Cup are today (and always have been) scheduled for 18 holes. But a handful of them have ended quite early, as early as after the 11th hole in the case of the record-holder for margin of victory.
The List: Solheim Cup Singles, Biggest Winning Margins
- 8 and 7 — Pat Bradley, USA, def. Trish Johnson, Europe, 1990
- 7 and 6 — Beth Daniel, USA, def. Liselotte Neumann, Europe, 1990
- 7 and 6 — Deb Richard, USA, def. Kitrina Douglas, Europe, 1992
- 7 and 5 — Paula Creamer, USA, def. Laura Davies, Europe, 2005
No Europeans make the above list as winners, so what is the largest margin of victory by a Team Europe golfer in Solheim Cup singles? That is 6-and-5:
- 6 and 5 — Lisa Hackney (Hall), Europe, def. Betsy King, USA, 1998
- 6 and 5 — Catriona Matthew, Europe, def. Paula Creamer, USA 2011
Technically, there was also once a 10-and-8 singles outcome. In the 2011 Solheim Cup, Cristie Kerr was unable to play her singles match against Karen Stupples due to injury and forfeited the match. Solheim Cup rules stipulated that the forfeit went into the books as a 10-and-8 victory for Stupples, but, obviously, that match wasn't actually played.
