Lowest Score, First Two Rounds of U.S. Open
The first U.S. Open player to record 130 at the conclusion of Round 2 was Martin Kaymer in the 2014 U.S. Open. Kaymer opened with a first-round score of 65 on the No. 2 Course at Pinehurst Resort. And then he added a second score of 65 in Round 2.
In the 2023 U.S. Open at Los Angeles Country Club, Rickie Fowler matched Kaymer's record. Fowler's first-round score tied the U.S. Open's 18-hole record of 62. In Round 2, Fowler scored 68 for a 130 total.

Of the seven scores listed above, four of them were recorded over the opening 36 holes of the 2023 U.S. Open, played at Los Angeles Country Club. Wyndham Clark was the winner, with McIlroy finishing second and Schauffele tying for 10th place.
McIlroy is on the list twice. His 131 in the 2011 U.S. Open was the record until Kaymer lowered it. McIlroy went on to win that year.
The seventh player listed, Ricky Barnes, tied for second in the 2009 U.S. Open.
