What Happened in the 2009 U.S. Women's Open

Eun-Hee Ji won the 2009 U.S. Women's Open, coming from behind entering the final round to clinch the victory with a final-hole birdie.

Ji was four strokes behind 36-hole leader Cristie Kerr at the halfway point. In the third round, Kerr maintained a two-stroke lead, with Ji moving into second place.

Kerr carded a 75 in the final round and finished in a tie for third. It was Candie Kung who made a run, and who held the lead for a few holes late in the tournament. But after Ji double-bogeyed the ninth hole, she birdied Nos. 13 and 14.

When Kung bogeyed No. 17, she fell into a tie with Ji at 1-over. In-Kyung Kim also had a chance late, but bogeyed No. 18. But when Ji reached the 18th green, she rolled in a 20-foot birdie putt to win the tournament by a stroke over Kung.

It was Ji's second win on the LPGA Tour, and she went eight years before winning again.
