Golfers With the Most Singles Wins in Presidents Cup

The Presidents Cup was first played in 1994, and since that time there have been only seven golfers who've won four or more singles matches. Only three of those have won five or more singles matches. And Tiger Woods is the all-time leader in Presidents Cup singles victories.

The Presidents Cup is played every other year between teams representing the International side and the United States. (Team International is comprised of golfers who are neither American nor European.) The competition always wraps up with 12 singles matches on the final day.

These are the golfers with the most Presidents Cup singles wins, starting with the record-holder:

Tiger Woods, Team USA, 7 Wins

In nine appearances from 1998 through 2019, Woods set the Presidents Cup record for most singles wins with seven. His overall record in singles is 7-2-0, seven wins, two losses, no draws. His seven victories:
  • 1998: def. Greg Norman, 1-up
  • 2000: def. Vijay Singh, 2 and 1
  • 2003: def. Ernie Els, 4 and 3
  • 2009: def. Y.E. Yang, 6 and 5
  • 2011: def. Aaron Baddeley, 4 and 3
  • 2013: def. Richard Sterne, 1-up
  • 2019: def. Abraham Ancer, 3 and 2
Woods' two losses were to Retief Goosen (2005) and Mike Weir (2007).

Jim Furyk, Team USA, 5 wins

In seven Presidents Cup from 1998 to 2011, Furyk went 5-2-0 in singles.
  • 1998: def. Frank Nobilo, 4 and 2
  • 2000: def. Shigeki Maruyama, 5 and 4
  • 2003: def. Mike Weir, 3 and 1
  • 2005: def. Adam Scott, 3 and 2
  • 2011: def. Ernie Els, 4 and 3

Adam Scott, Team International, 5 wins

Scott has five wins, six losses in 11 Presidents Cup singles matches, from 2003 through 2024.
  • 2007: def. Zach Johnson, 2 and 1

  • 2013: def. Bill Haas, 2 and 1
  • 2015: def. Rickie Fowler, 6 and 5
  • 2017: def. Brooks Koepka, 3 and 2
Scott's losses were to Charles Howell III (2003), Jim Furyk (2005), Stewart Cink (2009), Xander Schauffele (2019), Patrick Cantlay (2022) and Collin Morikawa (2024). Alas, Scott's six defeats mean he not only also appears on the list of golfers with the most singles losses in the Presidents Cup, but that he holds that record.

Davis Love III, Team USA, 4 wins

Love's overall 4-1-1 record in singles was compiled in six playing appearances ranging from 1994 to 2005.

Phil Mickelson, Team USA, 4 wins

Mickelson made 12 playing appearances in the Presidents Cup, from 1994 to 2017. He is the only golfer on this list who had a losing record in singles. Mickelson won four singles matches, but lost five while drawing three.
  • 2007: def. Vijay Singh, 5 and 4
  • 2009: def. Retief Goosen, 2 and 1
  • 2015: def. Charl Schwartzel, 5 and 4
