LPGA Golfers Who Won 2 (or More) Majors in the Same Year

How many times has a golfer won two or more women's major championships in the same calendar year? It has happened quite a bit, especially in the first couple decades of the LPGA Tour's existence. The incidence has slowed down somewhat in recent decades, but there are still plenty of LPGA golfers pulling off a single-season major-double — a few have even won three in a year.

Note that the following list actually begins in the years prior to the LPGA Tour's founding. Year 1 of the LPGA Tour was 1950, and there were two pre-existing tournaments then that are now counted as major championships by the tour. That's why the list begins in the 1940s.

This is the list of LPGA golfers who've had multiple-major years, with the year, the golfer, and the majors she won:

  • 1946, Louise Suggs: Women's Western Open, Titleholders
  • 1948, Patty Berg: Women's Western Open, Titleholders

Patty Berg had three years in which she won two LPGA majors. But the record-holder is Mickey Wright, who had four such seasons. And in one of Wright's multiple-major years, she won three majors.

There are four golfers on the list above who had three-win years: Babe Zaharias (1950), Wright (1961), Pat Bradley (1986) and Inbee Park (2013). In Zaharias' case, she won all three majors played that year. Wright and Bradley won three of the four majors played in their respective years; and Park won three out of five majors played in her year.
