2025 Masters Tournament Winner and Scores
The 2025 Masters Tournament was the 89th time this major championship was played. Rory McIlroy survived two double bogeys in his final round, and a playoff with Justin Rose, to win and to complete his career grand slam.
Winner: Rory McIlroy, 277
Where it was played: Augusta National Golf Club in Augusta, Georgia
Tournament dates: April 10-13, 2025
Leader after first round: Justin Rose, 65
Leader after second round: Justin Rose, 136
Leader after third round: Rory McIlroy, 204
Notes: Rory McIlroy began the final round of the 2025 Masters with a two-stroke lead and immediately lost it with a double bogey on the first hole. He rebuilt his lead to four at the turn, then lost that lead, too, in part with another double bogey at No. 13 when he hit into water. McIlroy fell one stroke behind Justin Rose at one point on the back nine. But they eventually wound up tied at 277, although not until after McIlroy lost another lead (he had gone one ahead of rose with a 17th-hole birdie, but then bogeyed the 18th hole).
McIlroy and Rose met in a sudden-death playoff, which started on the 18th hole. Both his fine approaches into the green, but McIlroy's was tight to the cup. Rose missed his birdie putt, then McIlroy made his own birdie putt to win the playoff and the 2025 Masters title.
For McIlroy, it was his fifth victory in a major, but his first since 2014. With the victory, McIlroy became just the sixth golfer ever to complete the men's career grand slam by winning each of the four professional majors at least once.
McIlroy opened the third round making six consecutive 3s — the first golfer in Masters history to score 3 on each of the first six holes of his round. ... Nick Dunlap had the second most-contrasting start over the first two rounds in Masters history. Dunlap scored 90 in Round 1, then shot 71 in Round 2, a 19-stroke improvement. Only Craig Wood's 21-stroke improvement (88 to 67) in the 1936 Masters was better. ... Bernhard Langer, a two-time Masters champion, missed the cut in his final playing appearance in The Masters.
