2022 PGA Championship Winner and Scores

The 2022 PGA Championship was the 104th time this tournament was played. The champion won this major for the second time, but he needed a playoff to do it.

Winner: Justin Thomas, 275

Where it was played: Southern Hills Country Club in Tulsa, Oklahoma

Tournament dates: May 19-22, 2022

Leader after first round: Rory McIlroy, 65

Leader after second round: Will Zalatoris, 131

Leader after third round: Mito Pereira, 201

Notable notes: Justin Thomas, already a winner once in this tournament, earned his second PGA Championship win in a playoff. Thomas and Will Zalatoris finished 72 holes tied at 5-under 275 after Thomas shot 67 in the final round and Zalatoris 71. In the 3-hole, aggregate playoff, both players birdied the first hole, but Thomas took a 1-stroke lead with another birdie on the second extra hole. On the third and final playoff hole, Thomas tapped in for par and the victory. He previously won the 2017 PGA Championship.

Mito Pereira had a three-stroke lead following the third round, and held or shared the lead for nearly the entire final round. But on the last hole, he hit his drive into water and double-bogeyed, falling out of the playoff. Thomas began the final round seven strokes off Pereira's lead. That 7-stroke, final-round comeback to win tied the tournament record originally set by John Mahaffey in the 1978 PGA Championship.
