2021 Masters Tournament Winner and Scores

The 2021 Masters Tournament was the 85th time this event, one of the four major championships of men's professional golf, was played. But for the first time ever, a Japanese golfer won the tournament.

Winner: Hideki Matsuyama, 278

Where it was played: Augusta National Golf Club in Augusta, Georgia

Tournament dates: April 8-11, 2021

Leader after first round: Justin Rose, 65

Leader after second round: Justin Rose, 137

Leader after third round: Hideki Matsuyama, 205

Notable notes: Ten years after he earned low amateur honors in The Masters, Hideki Matsuyama won the Green Jacket. He thus became both the first Japanese golfer and the first Asian golfer to win this major championship. ... Matsuyama took a four-stroke lead into the final round, and about halfway through his final round had pushed his lead to six strokes. But on the back nine, that lead began eroding as Matsuyama lost some strokes and Xander Schauffele made a run. ... Schauffele ran off four consecutive birdies on Holes 12-15, and when they reached the 16th tee he trailed Matsuyama by just two. But Schauffele then hit into the water and triple-bogeyed the 16th. ... Matsuyama took a two-stroke lead to the 18th tee, made bogey at the last, and won by a stroke over Will Zalatoris.
