2008 World Golf Rankings: No. 1, Top 50 at End of Year

Which golfers finished the year 2008 in the Top 50 of the Official World Golf Ranking? Who was No. 1 at the end of 2008? Below is the year-end list of 2008's top-ranked golfers.

Tiger Woods was ranked No. 1 at the end of 2008 despite missing the later part of the year following knee surgery. Prior to that, Woods won four tournaments on the PGA Tour: the Buick Invitational, WGC Accenture Match Play Championship, Arnold Palmer Invitational and the 2008 U.S. Open. He was also runner-up in the 2008 Masters, plus won the Dubai Desert Classic on the European Tour.

Comparing the above end-of-2008 rankings with the end-of-2007 rankings, the biggest jump from outside the Top 50 into the Top 50 from 2007 to 2008 was by Rory McIlroy, who moved up from 232nd to No. 40.
