LPGA Tour's Yearly Greens In Regulation (GIR) Leaders
The list below shows the golfers who have led the LPGA Tour in greens in regulation (GIR) each year back to 1992, which is as far back as the LPGA statistics go for GIR.
What does hitting a green "in regulation" mean? Subtract two from par (hit the green in one on a par-3; with your second stroke on a par-4; with the third stroke on a par-5).
A few notes about the list:
- The golfer who appears the most is, not surprisingly, Annika Sorenstam. Sorenstam led the LPGA in greens in regulation seven times, six of those years (2000-05) consecutively.
- No LPGA golfer, at least not as far back as this stat is officially kept, has hit 80-percent or more of her greens in regulation. But two golfers have come close. Sorenstam's GIR percentage was 79.7 in both 2001 and 2002, and Jin Young Ko hit 79.6 in 2019.
- The lowest GIR percentage to lead the LPGA since 1992 is 71.6 by Lorena Ochoa in 2008.
