Notes: The U.S. fielded a team in which nine of the 10 players were Walker Cup rookies, but that didn't slow down the American race to victory. Team USA led 9-3 at the end of Day 1 and Team GB&I couldn't get any closer.

Two of those rookies, John Fought and Lindy Miller, were each a perfect 4-0-0, the third and fourth golfers in Walker Cup history to do that.

Another of those rookies was Jay Sigel, who last played in a Walker Cup in 1993. Sigel is Team USA's record-holder in playing appearances (9), and the Walker Cup's all-time record-holder in match wins (18) and points earned (20.5). He eventually played more matches than anyone else in tournament history, too, with 33, compiling an 18-10-5 record.
