The two teams halved the 1994 Curtis Cup, but as the defending champion Team GB&I retained the trophy. Following this result, the all-time standings were 20 wins for Team USA, five for GB&I, and three ties.

Final Score: Great Britain & Ireland 9, United States 9 (GB&I retained the Cup)

Dates Played: July 30-31, 1994

Location: The Honors Course in Chattanooga, Tennessee

Team Captains: Elizabeth Boatman for Great Britain & Ireland; Lancy Smith for the United States

Team Rosters:

  • GB&I — Julie Hall, Catriona Matthew, Mhairi McKay, Myra McKinlay, Janice Moodie, Eileen Rose Power, Kirsty Speak, Lisa Walton
  • USA — Sarah LeBrun Ingram, Wendy Kaupp, Emilee Klein, Jill McGill, Ellen Port, Stephanie Sparks, Carol Semple Thompson, Wendy Ward
Notes: The 28th Curtis Cup was one of the best to this point, with no more than a point separating the teams after any session. Team USA led by one point after the first session, and also by one at the end of Day 1.

When the team of Catriona Matthew and Janice Moodie won the third foursomes match on Day 2, it squared the match and sent the squads into singles knotted at 6-6.

In the final singles session, the teams traded wins: Jill McGill's victory for the USA led off, then Matthew won for GB&I, Ellen Port for the USA, Myra McKinlay for GB&I and Wendy Ward for the USA.

Ward's win gave Team USA a 1-point edge with one match remaining on the course: Moodie vs. Carol Semple Thompson. When Moodie won it on the final green, 1-up, it secured the tie and kept the trophy with Great Britain & Ireland.

Thompson played for Team USA for the eighth time, tying Anne Quast Sander for the American record for most playing appearances in the Curtis Cup. Thompson went on to play another four times, setting the all-time Curtis Cup record at 12.

Dn Day 1, the singles session was played first, the foursomes session second. It was the only time in Curtis Cup history, during the period when only foursomes and singles matches were played, that foursomes did not lead off.
