The 1974 Curtis Cup was the 18th time this tournament was played. Following Team USA's victory, the all-time standings were 14 wins for Team USA, two for GB&I, and two ties.

Final Score: United States 13, Great Britain & Ireland 5

Dates Played: August 2-3, 1974

Location: San Francisco Golf Club in San Francisco, California

Team Captains: Belle McCorkindale Robertson for Team GB&I and Marion "Sis" Choate for Team USA

Team Rosters:

  • GB&I — Mary Everard, Julia Greenhalgh, Carol LeFeuvre, Mary McKenna, Tegwen Perkins, Jennifer Lee-Smith, Maureen Walker
  • USA — Beth Barry, Jane Bastanchury Booth, Mary Budke, Cynthia Hill, Bonnie Lauer, Deborah Massey, Anne Quast Sander, Carol Semple
Notes: After Maureen Walker won the first game of the Day 1 singles session for Team GB&I, GB&I held a 2.5 to 1.5 lead. From that point on, however, it was a Team USA rout: The Americans won 11.5 of the remaining 14 available points.

Jane Bastanchury Booth went 4-0-0 in the last of her three playing appearances for Team USA. Two decades later, her daughter, Kellee Booth, also played for Team USA. They were the first mother-and-daughter duo who both played in the Curtis Cup. Jane ended her Curtis Cup career having won seven of a possible nine points in her matches.

There was a highly significant debut this year: Carol Semple (later known as Carol Semple Thompson) played in her first Curtis Cup for Team USA. She went on to play 11 more times, her 12 total playing appearances being the Curtis Cup record. Semple also holds the overall Curtis Cup records for most wins (18, seven more than anyone else) and most points earned (20, eight more than anyone else).

Semple's final playing appearance wasn't until the 2002 Curtis Cup. Then she was Team USA's captain in the 2006 and 2008 matches.
