1964 Curtis Cup Winner and Match Scores

The 1964 Curtis Cup was the 13th time this tournament was played, but it was played with a new, expanded format this year: 18 points were at stake rather than just nine. The result was another United States win, however. And following that win, the all-time standings were nine wins for Team USA, two for GB&I, and two ties.

Notes: The big news at the 1964 Curtis Cup was the format change. The golfers still played foursomes and singles matches. But instead of playing nine matches total (three foursomes on Day 1 and six singles on Day 2), they played 18 matches. The three-foursomes-plus-six-singles schedule was doubled.

Individual matches, however, reverted to 18 holes rather than 36 as in the preceding Cups.

Here, Team GB&I won the first session, then the two sides were tied following the second and third sessions. In the final session, Day 2's singles, however, Team USA pulled away for the victory.

One all-time Curtis Cup record was set this year for largest winning margin in an 18-hole foursomes match. The USA's Carol Sorenson and Barbara Fay White teamed to beat Bridget Jackson and Susan Armitage by an 8-and-6 score.
