Final Score: USA 4.5, Great Britain 4.5
Date Played: May 6, 1936
Location: The King's Course at Gleaneagles Hotel in Auchterarder, Perthshire, Scotland
Team Captains: Doris Chambers for Great Britain and Glenna Collett Vare for USA.
Team Rosters:
- USA — Patty Berg, Leona Cheney, Maureen Orcutt, Charlotte Glutting, Aniela Goldthwaite, Opal Hill, Marion Miley, Glenna Collett Vare (playing captain)
- Great Britain — Jessie Anderson, Pam Barton, Marjorie Ross Garon, Helen Holm, Wanda Morgan, Bridget Newell, Phyllis Wade, Pat Walker
Glenna Collett Vare was the USA's captain for the second time, and also played for the second time (after debuting as a player in the inaugural 1932 Curtis Cup.
Collett Vare's partner in foursomes was 18-year-old Patty Berg — whom Collett Vare had defeated in the championship match at the 1935 U.S. Women's Amateur — and they halved their match. In singles, Berg lost, 4 and 3, to Helen Holm. It was an inauspicious debut on the international stage for Berg, who went on to be one of the first major stars of women's professional golf — she still holds the LPGA record today with 15 wins in professional majors.
