Golfers Who Won Multiple Majors in the Same Year (Men)

Only four major championships are played per year in men's professional golf. So winning two of them in the same year is a very impressive feat.

How many golfers have accomplished that feat? Only 21 golfers have won two (or more) of the men's majors in the same year. Several of those have done it more than once, however, so the feat has been accomplished a total of 34 times.

The fact that a multiple-major season is not exactly rare doesn't detract from how impressive it is to do it: Every single golfer who has had a multiple-major year is in the World Golf Hall of Fame, with the exception of those still too young to be voted in.

Here is the list of multiple-major seasons on the PGA Tour; the golfers who won two (or more) majors in the same year.

  • 1922, Gene Sarazen: Won the U.S. Open and PGA Championship

No surprise that Nicklaus and Woods have accomplished multiple majors the most, five times for Nicklaus, four times for Woods. Hogan did it three times. Hogan and Woods are the only golfers on the list who won three majors in the same season. (Bobby Jones won what was then considered the Grand Slam in 1930, but two of his four majors that year were amateur majors — the U.S. and British amateur championships.)
