2007 British Open Winner and Scores

The 2007 British Open was 136th time the tournament was played. Padraig Harrington won it in a playoff over Sergio Garcia.

Winner: Padraig Harrington, 277

Where it was played: Carnoustie Golf Links, Carnoustie, Scotland

Tournament dates: July 19-22, 2007

Leader after first round: Sergio Garcia, 65

Leader after second round: Sergio Garcia, 136

Leader after third round: Sergio Garcia, 204

Notable Notes: Sergio Garcia led almost until the end. But in the end, it was Padraig Harrington who claimed the win in a playoff over Garcia.

Garcia led by one after the first round, by two after the second round, and three after the third round. He led Harrington by six shots entering the final round. But Garcia shot 73 in Round 4, while Harrington carded a 67. Harrington took the lead with an eagle on the 14th hole, and needed par on the 18th to win. But he hit two balls into the water and made double bogey. Which left Garcia needing par on the last to win, but Garcia missed a 10-foot putt for par.

So the two entered a 4-hole aggregate playoff. Garcia had a birdie putt on the fourth hole that probably would have extended the playoff, but missed, and Harrington won by a shot.
