Dallas Civitan Open Golf Tournament (LPGA Tour)

The Dallas Civitan Open (also known as the Mary Kay Classic) was a golf tournament on the LPGA Tour played in the Dallas, Texas, area from the mid-1950s until the early 1980s. Its first champion was Patty Berg, and its last was Sandra Spuzich.

First played: 1956

Last played: 1982

Mickey Wright won it three times between 1958 and 1965; Louise Suggs won it three years in a row from 1959-61. Kathy Whitworth, Carol Mann and Betsy Rawls were among the 2-time champions.

The tournament began as a 72-hole event named the Dallas Open; it ended as a 54-hole tournament named the Mary Kay Classic. When Jan Stephenson won in 1981 with a score of 198, she set the LPGA's then-record for a 54-hole tournament. She was the first golfer in LPGA history to finish a 54-hole event in fewer than 200 strokes. And her 11-stroke win remains today the second-biggest margin of victory ever in a 54-hole LPGA tournament.

Wright's victory in 1963 was one of an LPGA-record 13 wins she had on tour that year. It was also one of the victories in her streak that year of four wins in four weeks. ... Betsy Rawls' win in 1970 was the 53rd of her 55 career LPGA Tour victories. Mann's win in 1975 was the last of her 38 career wins on the tour.

Also known as: It was called the Mary Kay Classic in its final four years; before that, also Civitan Open and Dallas Open.
