This was the sixth time the Seve Trophy was played. After the Great Britain/Ireland victory, the overall standings in the event's history was Great Britain & Ireland 5, Continental Europe 1

Notes: This was the first Seve Trophy in which neither Seve Ballesteros nor Colin Montgomerie appeared, either as a captain or a player. ... GB&I essentially sealed its win on the third day, when it claimed 6.5 of a possible 8 points. That gave GB&I a 12.5 to 5.5 lead entering singles.
