1992 Masters

The 1992 Masters was the 56th time the tournament took place, and it was the site of Fred Couples' first, and only, win in a major.

Winner: Fred Couples, 275

Where it was played: Augusta National Golf Club, Augusta, Georgia

Tournament dates: April 9-12, 1992

Leader after first round: Lanny Wadkins and Jeff Sluman, 65

Leader after second round: Craig Parry and Ian Woosnam, 135

Leader after third round: Craig Parry, 204

Notable Notes: Fred Couples took advantage of a little luck and third-round leader Craig Parry's bad stumble to win his only major. Parry, leader after the second and third rounds, soared to a 78 in Round 4.

Couples' final-round tee shot to the par-3 12th was short of the green and hit the sloping bank above the water - a position from which nearly all balls roll into the water. Couples' didn't, somehow, and he made par. He finished two strokes ahead of runner-up Raymond Floyd, who, at age 49, was the oldest Masters runner-up to this point.
